Cake in a Box Kit Program
In 2025, Orange Grove Elementary staff member Brittney Valenti saw an opportunity to make birthdays a little more special for students and their families. She started the Cake in a Box Birthday Kit program on her own, creating kits filled with the ingredients and supplies families need to make a birthday cake at home. Each kit also includes candles, birthday decorations, and other special touches to help families create a memorable birthday celebration for their child.
In 2026, Brittney reached out to the community for help expanding the program, and the Kiwanis Club of Seminole Breakfast was proud to answer her call. Our club, along with generous community members, donated the cake ingredients and supplies, along with birthday decorations and gifts, allowing Brittney to provide a Cake in a Box Birthday Kit to every student participating in Orange Grove Elementary’s Pack-a-Snack program. The kits give families the opportunity to make and decorate a birthday cake together and celebrate their child’s special day at home.
The Cake in a Box program is a wonderful example of how a simple idea can grow through community support. We are grateful to Brittney Valenti for recognizing a need and taking the initiative to make a difference, and we are proud to support her efforts to help make birthdays a little brighter and more memorable for the children and families of Orange Grove Elementary.
